Requirements to obtain VISA to enter Botswana

Passport Information

U.S. Passport or passport of any other nationality, musthave at least 6 months remaining validity from the day of entry into the country for which VISA has been applied for. If validity is less than 6 months ETS will renew your passport (Fee’s apply).

U.S. citizens do not need a tourist or business visa to enter Botswana for a period of 90 days

VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR NON US CITIZENS

Botswana Tourist Visa

  • A valid signed passport with at least 6 months validity remaining from the date of departure and at least 3 blank visa pages
  • 1 visa application form, completed and signed – Click Here.
  • Notarized color copy of applicant’s passport page
  • 2 identical passport type photos, 2×2 on a white background, less than 6 months old, no glasses to be worn in the photo.
  • Notarized color copy of Green Card (front and back) or a valid visa back to the U.S.
  • If applicant previously applied for a visa, please attach a copy of the visa outcome.
  • Recent bank statement showing the name of the applicant
  • A letter of intent stating the purpose and duration of your stay, detailing the cities/places you intend to visit. If traveling by road, specify in the letter and include your contact information.
  • Please provide an employment verification letter from your employer
  • If visiting friends or family please provide an invitation letter from the host in Botswana, a sworn statement from the host (personal appearance of the host to the nearest immigration office in Botswana to fill in the affidavit). Please also provide a certified copy of the host’s national identity/residence permit or work permit
  • Onward/return ticket or confirmed itinerary along with hotel bookings is required
  • Applicants who would not be collecting their visa (endorsed in the passport) should write a letter authorizing someone to collect their visa and passport. The letter should include their full name, copy of ID and contact number.

Botswana Business Visa

  • A valid signed passport with at least 6 months validity remaining from the date of departure and at least 3 blank visa pages

  • Notarized color copy of applicant’s passport page
  • 2 identical passport type photos, 2×2 on a white background, less than 6 months old, no glasses to be worn in the photo.
  • Notarized color copy of Green Card (front and back) or a valid visa back to the U.S.
  • If applicant previously applied for a visa, please attach a copy of the visa outcome.
  • Certified copy of the Certificate of Incorporation, Trade License, Share Certificate of the host company
  • A letter (on company letterhead) from the company in the U.S. stating the purpose and duration of the trip and that the company will take care of all the financial expenses of the applicant during the intended stay in Botswana.
  • A letter of invitation (on company letterhead) from the host company in Botswana
  • A daily schedule of the business meetings
  • Onward/return ticket or confirmed itinerary along with hotel bookings is required
  • Applicants who would not be collecting their visa (endorsed in the passport) should write a letter authorizing someone to collect their visa and passport. The letter should include their full name, copy of ID and contact number.

Other Information

  • Minors travelling through the country’s borders will be required to provide certified copies of birth certificates
  • In the event that one parent is not travelling with the child, the other parent’s affidavit consenting to travel should be provided. Temporary guardianship must be given if both parents are not travelling with the minor, as well as the above mentioned requirements. However, an affidavit will not be required if the father’s name does not appear on the child’s birth certificate.
